Winter 2002 Issue

Over 75 miniature Teddies and their animal friends grace the pages of this issue. Our tribute to miniature Teddies is bigger than ever in “A Big Bunch of Minis.” Enjoy the intricate and sometimes miniscule features of this little miracles.

We are honored to bring you a preview of the gallery pieces available at the Teddy Bear Artist’s Invitational at Ross Park Zoo in August. The theme is Mother Goose and this year’s contributors have outdone themselves.

The artist profile in this issue features Laura Unrau from Canada. Her sense of humor is evident in her incredible miniature designs.

The show profile is Linda Mullin’s 50th International Teddy Bear, Doll and Antique Toy Show and Sale. It also features the winners of her popular “West Coast Crystal Awards.”

Theodore B. Bear says, “Let’s take a look at more early Teddy Bear Artist’s Bears.” You will be delighted to see these early examples of some of today’s top artists.

The Bear Sleuth can’t resist a good thrift store. See what he found while “digging around” inside.

"The Teddy Bear Appreciation Price Guide" includes: a “Twyford” Teddy, an early Teddy Bear figurine, “Steiff Polar Bears from the 1950s, an early Mechanical Teddy Bear from Germany, a 1960s “Grisly” Teddy Bear, and a painted wood and cloth artist Bear from the Tyber Katz carvers.

"Kimbearlee’s Kreative Musings" studies more costuming possibilities in Part IV of her informative series.

Our pattern for this issue was generously created for us by famous Australian, artist Loris Hancock. This little elf, “Violet” is adorable and intricate.

Alistair has visitors after the holidays, goes to the doctor and gets a suspicious mole removed. He reminds us we all have to take care of ourselves.
