Summer 2001 Issue

“Faces 2001” is the main feature, and it is bigger and better than ever, with 170 entries. Discover the similarities and differences in these antique and artist Teddy Bear faces. Play a little game, and see if you can recognize who they are made by. before you look at the lists at the end of the feature.

Artist profiles in this issue include: Maggie Newman, German artist, Sigrid Skomudek, and miniaturist, Angelia McLean.

The Bear Sleuth has hit a dry spell, and almost robs a homeless person. You have to read the story to understand what is meant and you’ll definitely have a good laugh.

The Bear Appreciation Price Guide covers: a Grisly Teddy Bear, a Käthe Kruse Teddy Bear, a Steiff Teddy Bear, a Schuco “yes-no” Elephant, a rare Billiken doll, and a Steiff coin purse.

“Theodore B. Bear Says” takes another look a judging Teddy Bear contests.

“Kimbearlee’s Kreative Musings”
tells us we all need a break. Learn how taking a break and learning how to relax will replenish our creative juices.

“The Legend of the White Bear”
tells about the endanger Spirit Bear of Canada. Also learn about the charity Teddy Bear Artist auction with all proceeds benefitting the Valhalla Wilderness Society, which is in charge of protecting the last refuge of this magnificent creature.

The pattern in this issue is “Doolittle” by Denis Shaw. This playful and poseable Teddy is sure to give pleasure to everyone that creates him.

Alistair is at it again. This time he complains about the constant barking dogs in the area, and the poor training abilities of their owners. He also tells about the library displays and newspaper article in which the boys participated. Of course, he ends by saying he must get the crease out of the garden hose!
