Spring 1998 Issue

The Spring 1998 issue focuses on Mama and Babies. The feature article looks at Mamas and Babies from antique to artist Bears and many other animals.

Another exciting features takes you back to the fabulous fifties for a look at vinyl face Teddy Bears and others from that era, in "Let Me Be Your Teddy Bear".

Also for the antique loving Teddy Bear collector there is an article on "Fairy Zoo Dolls" and another wonderful feature by Dee Hockenberry on Winnie the Pooh.

A preview of Steve Van Houten's Artist Invitational, shows many of the outstanding one-of-a-kind auction pieces, including the controversial "Besus" by Denis R. Shaw.

Bear artists that are profiled in this issue include, Anne Cranshaw, a retrospective, Deborah Bedwell-Koontz, Blanche Blakeny, Beverly Matteson Port, French artist Laurence Veron and Dutch artist, Richard van Aalst.

This issue's store profile is of Groves, Quality Collectibles in Bluffington, Ohio.

Two classes are covered: "The Art of the Teddy Bear" workshop by Beverly and John Port at J&L Collectibles in Tampa, Florida and the Unique Bears by Denis Shaw at Berelijn in Dordrecht, Holland.

Pat Johnson, from the Teddy Bear Trauma Center shows us how Teddy Bears can be fixed, with some remarkable transformations, in her continuing column on Teddy Bear repair.

The Bear Sleuth discovers a 1910 Teddy Bear container with teddy figurines attached.

A special story by Judith Schnog called "He Wants to Live!", tells of a little Bear that passes from one owner to another.

Harry's Heros salutes Linda Mullins.
